Rural career now on the cards thanks to TASTE experience

"I attended TASTE to see what the College was like and to make sure this was the type of career path I wanted to pursue. Driving the spray coupe, learning to use the auto steer in the 8330 tractor, playing touch footy and the tour of Dalby made the week a memorable experience. I had undertaken some agricultural studies at high school but the hands-on activities I participated in at TASTE confirmed that a rural career is what I really want to do. I like working with machinery and also want to learn more about the cattle industry and my AACC studies is an ideal start."

TASTE shapes Katherine’s future career in the Beef Industry

"When I arrived at the Emerald Campus I didn’t know what to expect, but while I was there I got a really good idea of what you could do at College – especially at "Berrigurra" where the hands-on training really appealed. But for mine, the Goonoo Feedlot was a standout, as we learnt about nutrition and mixing feed.

Working with cattle in all aspects – branding, tagging and mustering, I love the outdoor nature of the work.  My long-term goal is to eventually work in a large feedlot in Texas USA.

The courses I am doing at the AACC are helping me learn the skills and knowledge I need to succeed in the Beef Industry."
