2012 TASTE® Experience
TASTE – what is it?
TASTE is a program for Year 10, 11 and 12 students held at two campuses of the Australian Agricultural College Corporation (AACC) during the June/July and September/October school holidays. The four-day program is designed to help young people explore agricultural training opportunities and engage in training for different types of careers in the rural industry. TASTE will give students an appreciation of innovative technologies and the specific practical skills used across a wide range of career fields.
What will you do at TASTE?
Throughout the four days of the program you will live and breathe the rural experience in areas such as operating machinery and equipment, riding motorcycles and quad bikes; feeding livestock; exploring the science behind agriculture; and using GPS equipment for locating and plotting positions. If your interest is in horticulture, cropping or how you can make a difference to the environment this program is perfect. Depending on your choice of campus you could be introduced to horse riding, working livestock, handling wool or caring for the environment.
Other activities during the week include farm walks, tours of local agricultural and horticultural enterprises and interactive training demonstrations. The program is not just about experiencing the facilities and the training however, it also focuses on getting students to participate in a variety of group activities developing their problem solving and communication skills and the conceptual thinking which will be integral to success in their studies and jobs. Students will have heaps of fun along the way with a variety of social activities planned, which were a big hit with previous participants. TASTE is a great way to explore your options for the future.
How much will TASTE Cost?
$360.00 per student including accommodation and meals.
